I decided to make a very simple form of guest book. With only one text area and no more
crap like fields for your email address, name or home page url. Just simple and plain as a real world guest book.
And also like a real guest book: HTML input is not allowed.
And a message to all guest book spammers: URLs in this guest book were automatically removed.
This is only a guest book. If you've questions or need support: Please visit our forum. We don't answer any questions here.
And please, for your own happiness: Don't leave your e-mail addresses in a public guest book. Spammers will love you.
works flawlessly, extremely easy to set up.

Thank you for all the work. I am a newbee and spent hours trying to install PHP amd MySQL onto my Xandros Linux with nothing but frustration. I found Xampp by some fortune or fate and I am now running it. I have a lot to learn but I think I can have a Web site up in a few weeks. Also, the English forum is great, I have already solved one problem; how to set permissions for htdocs.

Great package. Only issue getting it up and running was that the installer version does not handle spaces in path names so the default selection of 'program files' did not work. Resolved by installing to a directory with no spaces in name (webdev).
Thank you for your efforts in putting this all together.

Ok just thought I should post this after reading some of the other guys posts.
If you have d/led the latest version of Xampp the installer version, and you are having problems with it. Then d/l the 7-zip version of the same file and place it in your root of your drive. Then open the file and install the the root. Once this is done you will have to run xamppsetup.bat in the (drive letter):\xampp\ directory, to run setup open the file. This will ask you some simple questions, just answer them truthfully to the best of your configuration knowledge, and that should be it.
To run the server afterwards, simple go to your programs in start and find Xampp the click of Start. To end the server do the same again but click Stop. Ahhh actually I just checked this version didn't install start menu shortcuts LOL. Ok to start open xampp_start.bat under (drive letter):\xampp\
and close with (drive letter):\xampp\xampp_stop.bat both these files start/stop Apache services and MySQL services with DB in tow.
To view database activaties go and open winmysqladmin.exe under (drive letter):\xampp\mysql\bin\ this allow you to monitor the mysql DBs.
I'm going to try and install Tomcat and JSP support into the XAmpp bundle to see if it works.

Hi,
Decided your bundle today, just wanted to say good one mate! I had previous had installed a copy of Omni HTTPd and Apache, both with PHP. I was trying to work on some PHP examples from the O'Reilly's PHP Cookbook, but discovered it needed PEAR. This is when things got BAD. I had to d/l and install mysql and get it running with the Apache server then find out what PEAR was and figure a way to d/l it and configure it.
To make a long story short, I was at wits end with PEAR when I came across your All-In-One bundle, and once I read the lines Apache + PHP + MySQL + Perl + PEAR, I jumped up and down and said YEAH! I had a bit of trouble installing it at first. The latest copy's installer doesn't setup properly, or maybe its me. Anyhow I d/led the 7-zip version and manually installed it in C:\xampp and all is good now.
Very well done! I love this package!
BTW just one suggestion if I may? I agree with previous posters that you may want to include or think of including the Tomcat plugin for Apache and JSP plugin so people could have the best of two of the most powerful languages around. I think it would make for an amazing package. Again well done and thanks on the behalf of all web developers for simplying what fools had made complex. Remember the saying KISS - Keep it simple stupid ;p

XAMPP rocks. really.
My heartiest tonns of thanks and wishes to the team.!
I dont know how i got here. But i really thank my eyes for seing this link somewhere.
I was having some real time with apachetoolbox, compiling in so many modules and getting so many errors. (I must be doing something wrong of course since apachetoolbox is nice and flexible too).
But i realized, I just need XAMPP. and in fact i think just about 90% of the people using apache need just that. nothing else.
Believe me. XAMPP is the best open source tool i have seen yet in last 7 years as system admin.
Kudos to the team. If i can be useful for something I would love to be part of it.
Thanks. You really have done a commendable job. keep it up.
Cheers!

I have been using XAMPP since two years now, first WAMPP and LAMPP now XAMPP. This is the best Apache, PHP, MySQL configuration I have seen. I just installed it on my SPARC running Solaris 8, very stable. This is simply great.
This is great. Saves countless hours of config work on Windows. I am about to set up a Linux server and am definitely going with this set up . A great product.
