I decided to make a very simple form of guest book. With only one text area and no more
crap like fields for your email address, name or home page url. Just simple and plain as a real world guest book.
And also like a real guest book: HTML input is not allowed.
And a message to all guest book spammers: URLs in this guest book were automatically removed.
This is only a guest book. If you've questions or need support: Please visit our forum. We don't answer any questions here.
And please, for your own happiness: Don't leave your e-mail addresses in a public guest book. Spammers will love you.
just discovered it and it seams great.
could someone explain why the packages for the different OSes are so different?

What you are providing is a super service! I'm finding Zend Studio is tying nicly into XAMPP as well. When it all comes together this will make an awesome local web/mysql/php development environment.
HOWEVER (!) - there is alway a cloud to the silver lining: It seems that XAMPP .04 running under OS X 10.4.2 causes a hang on shutdown/restart of OS X. I've tried to combinations: starting, stoping and restarting XAMPP. Then I started and simply stopped XAMPP. In both cases when I would tell OSX to restart - it would go down to a blue screen and then just hang with a whirlling 'pinwheel' graphic.
I've waited as much as 10 minutes but the hang persisted. I have to press the reset button on the Sawtooth G4 to get the system to restart. I'm hoping there may be a fix for this in the near future -- it gives me some concern. Is XAMPP leaving something running that the system can't shut down? Has it broken anything? I think not -- but I must be cautious.
Hope all the best for this super package!

XAMPP is an excellent tool for those with no experience with compiling/configuring Apache with the things XAMPP provides. Although I have a few minor gripes with it I must say a fantastic package. Nicely done.

wow. i love this package. it makes it so simple. i was having a hard time trying to get mysql and php working for apache on my win2k3 box and wasn't even going to bother with perl. i gave this a go, and had a fully working webserver in minutes. even the perl addon was simple. this certinly beats doing the install manually for mysql, php, etc...
i did try the ftp server and couldn't get it working. it says it was, but i couldn't log on with a user. thats the only problem i've had.
love the work guys, keep it up.
chris.

Great package. I installed it on my Tao Linux box just to try out. It worked so well I am going to be installing it on both my Tao Linux and Windows web servers for development. I noticed the Python, Tomcat, Cocoon, etc. add-ons for the Windows package and hope they will follow soon on the Linux version.
Keep up the great work...you guys are the best!!!

I've read a few of the messages and i reallized that you guys have provided a great service to us lamens. I've tried configuring some of the stuff with apache with no LUCK!!. However Im having troubles with Configuring apache. NAME BASED VIRTUAL HOSTING does not work. Firefox does not send enough info in the packets???.. so it doesnt work. filezilla behind a router doesnt work. changing the server directory from /htdocs to htdocs/newsite doesnt work.. i get an error message whenever i try to restart the server.. it seems anytime i edit the httpd.conf file for apache the server doesnt start.. SERIOUS PROBLEM.. Ive pulled my hair out over these small but troublsome problems.. im about to install your new version of XAMPP.. hopefully some of these problems have been fixed..
thank you for everything XAMPP

Great package. At first I tested PHP scripts by uploading them to the server from my webhost, testing it, modifying it locally, uploading again, testing, etc.etc. Now I have developed several PHP scripts for several websites of which I am the webmaster. I just even managed to run a webserver on windows with this package and get it accessed from the internet. Keep up the excellent work. I am very grateful for this package.

Before Xampp I managed to get Apache, PHP5, and MySql working individually, and then spent hours trying to get PHP5 and MySQL talking. I eventually gave up, and tried Xampp instead. Everything just worked. Thanks for an excellent piece of work.

Thankyou Kai and Kay and your team.
XAMPP is a pleasure to install, I recommend it to anyone wanting to run a web-server on XP Home or any of the other OS's for which a package exists.
It gives you a working set-up first that you can play with, leaving you time to learn all the conf.httpd, php.ini etc .. later and at your own pace. Rather than being forced to learn all that stuff first before you can play with any of it.
=)

After spending the past couple of week constructing a new Linux LAMP system I stumpled upon XAMPP. It's been a long time since I've seen or even heard of such a comprehensive and well thought out product/project. Keep up the good work and I plan to take full advange of this software!

It also works on Vidalinux 1.2, which is based on gentoo, so it should work there too

i successfully installed xampp on my Suse 9.3 system and then imported my databases . It all worked well until i activated the security option. PHPmyAdmin would start but not access my tables. I tried to access mysql with the Suse 4.1 client , but it would not connect. I think xampp needs to include the simple text client for fixing user name and password syncronising problems.
{ users pma ,pmad ,root, lampp, xampp } I like the packaging except for the lack of security syncronising .

XAMPP is very usefull/handy. I use it very often. Thx!!
But I didn't find the sources (except PHP scripts in the installation dir).
I think there is a bug when the installation dir contains "spaces" for instance.
