I thank the people who started XAMPP a million times over each day. I run a small webhost and it wouldn't be possible without XAMPP. A few years ago, I'd gotten a few machines (dual core Xeons) but was struggling with setting the software up. Then I came along XAMPP. It made my life alot easier. Thanks. :)

No more Apache, PHP, MySQL + bundles of other stuff and doing the compile dance... works nice even with Solaris 10 Sparc!

perfect! i came to know this XAMMP way back its version 1.0 of the control panel.. and surprise its already a: "XAMPP Windows 1.4.16 "!
this xammp had made our lives easier.. specially those who are using dial up and per minute charging of internet connections.. since after i met XAMMP.. i usaully do the development of site LOCALLY.

Thank you for assembling this AIO, it is the answer I have been looking for in starting my personal home-network webserver. I plan on using it to learn on and then expand to the world. I've tried the separate installs, but have been unable to get mySQL to interface properly. Perhaps this will help!

Hi ! Good product but I found some troubles for windows version. One is the imposibility to select wich is the working directory (localhost). Some programs let you choose that. An other is when calling an php scrips, such an counter, If I use the "require C:\Program Files\xampp\..." I receive errors. Reasons the link is interpreted as ""require C:\Program Files mpp\...". I found an solution, but is not very nice to use tricks, I think. Solution: "require C:\Program Files\\xampp\..."

I like the idea for the guestbook. This is a way better way of doing things...
Though i see one problem... because the users haven't been frustrated and held up from typing their messages by the "Name: <TAB> Email: <TAB> Message" routine, they have way too much steam left when they hit this box, so they type big messages :-s

What you are providing is a super service! I'm finding Zend Studio is tying nicly into XAMPP as well. When it all comes together this will make an awesome local web/mysql/php development environment.
HOWEVER (!) - there is alway a cloud to the silver lining: It seems that XAMPP .04 running under OS X 10.4.2 causes a hang on shutdown/restart of OS X. I've tried to combinations: starting, stoping and restarting XAMPP. Then I started and simply stopped XAMPP. In both cases when I would tell OSX to restart - it would go down to a blue screen and then just hang with a whirlling 'pinwheel' graphic.
I've waited as much as 10 minutes but the hang persisted. I have to press the reset button on the Sawtooth G4 to get the system to restart. I'm hoping there may be a fix for this in the near future -- it gives me some concern. Is XAMPP leaving something running that the system can't shut down? Has it broken anything? I think not -- but I must be cautious.

XAMPP is an excellent tool for those with no experience with compiling/configuring Apache with the things XAMPP provides. Although I have a few minor gripes with it I must say a fantastic package. Nicely done.

i really like live-cd linux version (slax, klax), most of them excluded lampp package. Thank God there's xampp that is really good, no install, nodeps, no nothing!

wow. i love this package. it makes it so simple. i was having a hard time trying to get mysql and php working for apache on my win2k3 box and wasn't even going to bother with perl. i gave this a go, and had a fully working webserver in minutes. even the perl addon was simple. this certinly beats doing the install manually for mysql, php, etc...
i did try the ftp server and couldn't get it working. it says it was, but i couldn't log on with a user. thats the only problem i've had.
love the work guys, keep it up.

In file name "httpd.conf" in row number 752 i change default charset from ISO-8859-1 to ISO-8859-2 & now is very good.

Great package. I installed it on my Tao Linux box just to try out. It worked so well I am going to be installing it on both my Tao Linux and Windows web servers for development. I noticed the Python, Tomcat, Cocoon, etc. add-ons for the Windows package and hope they will follow soon on the Linux version.
