xampp apache will not start

I had downloaded and installed xampp on my external hard drive for school in Aug. 2012. It worked fine all semester. Over the holiday break I did not use it, when I started school back up this past week I find that apache will not run. It says started then goes right to stop. Tomcat will start and run, but I need apache and MySQL. Can anyone help me?

Can you please post the contents of your \xampp\apache\logs\error.log?
