upgrade XAMPP

upgrade XAMPP

My computer (xp sp3) is running with old ApacheFriends XAMPP (basic package) version 1.5.5. Can the latest version of XAMPP be installed over it as an upgrade and to expect the existing web still works? If not, is there an upgrade path? Thanks in advance.

no, the components are to different.
Better install newer xampp into another path. I've 2 versions installed, but only one can run.
