authentication for opening test page

dear all,

I installed the new version of XAMPP (1.8.1), started Apache and MySQL and tried to check everything by going to the test page. However, this page asks for authentication...nowhere i can find what to do with this!
Tried changing the "xampp.users" file within the security directory, but to no avail. Probably missing something trivial, but I would appreciate some help (and perhaps this should be included on the webpage?)

Hi AldoJongejan,

Please delete the file \xampp\htdocs\xampp\.htaccess to get rid of that authentification again.
