Starting today every time I start XAMPP with the .BAT file, within 3 minutes or I get a message from Windows saying there was an error.
I get the following event in the log: "Faulting application apache.exe, version 2.2.9.0, time stamp 0x4853f994, faulting module php_xdebug.dll, version 2.0.3.0, time stamp 0x47fcd9b9, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00008493, process id 0xcc0, application start time 0x01cab568ba7f8606. "
I started using XAMPP several years ago and the only recent change was done several days ago (getting the XDEBUG server installed).
UPDATE 2/24 14:20:00 : I removed/commented the lines for XDEBUG in PHP.INI No changes |

Susan, these forum search results may give some ideas for troubleshooting this like checking that you are using the correct php.ini file - look for php.ini files on your PC and rename or delete any you find that are not in the \xampp\php folder in 1.7.1+ XAMPP versions, then try again.
Some one else had success by copying the php5ts.dll to other locations mentioned in the search results.
Others had success by rebooting their PC, so as you can see the answers are varied indeed.
I have not been able to find a definitive solution for this.
If you can access phpMyAdmin before Apache crashes by using the http://localhost/phpmyadmin URI then you may be able to access http://localhost/xampp/phpinfo.php file to check the Loaded Configuration File (php.ini) setting.
Also try making a copy of the Drupal folder out of the xampp folder then deleting it and testing your XAMPP installation again - this is to isolate Drupal as the possible cause of this issue - you can reinstate the copy after testing.
A couple of Google links that may also give some ideas as this seems to have affected not only Drupal but also Wordpress. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=drupal+php5ts.dll http://www.google.com/search?q=wordpress+php5ts.dll
This issue was very evident in 1.7.0 of XAMPP and for that there was a fix here: viewtopic.php?p=136705#p136705 But I thought that this was fixed in 1.7.1
Perhaps a more definitive solution may be provided by an XAMPP for Windows developer if your topic is spotted.
Sorry I can't be of more help Susan. |

Cannot access http://localhost (my localhost should display the Drupal Welcome page) either by name or IP (127.0.0.1)
The Windows Event Viewer registers a number of what seems to be the same Application Error and identifies the same file httpd.exe and php5ts.dll files :
Faulting application httpd.exe, version 2.2.11.0, time stamp 0x493f5d44, faulting module php5ts.dll, version 5.2.9.9, time stamp 0x49a56925, exception code 0xc00000fd, fault offset 0x00151f03, process id 0x15e0, application start time 0x01ca6a38aa69106d.
The php5ts.dll - PHP Script interpreter - I guess has a problem.
Clicking the "start" next to SQL and Apache in Xampp control panel renders "running" for both, but when I browse to localhost or IP the Windows error message just keeps saying Apache server stopped working. However, Xampp control panel gives not indication that there's an issue. |

From a few days to about a week Apache stops and I get an error in my Event Log that reads Faulting application httpd.exe, version 2.2.12.0, time stamp 0x4a66dd7b faulting module php5ts.dll, version 5.3.0.0, time stamp 0x4a4d06fc, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0000bfaa, process id 0x12f4, application start time 0x01ca5432aaf84.
I typically just have to restart Apache and I'm back up and running. This server is only used for XAMPP to host Wordpress. Any ideas? |

I keep getting this error message every so often. Im running XAMPP 1.7.2 with Windows Server 2008 Standard. It seems like it will run fine forever and then when someone goes into the dashboard on Wordpress, that's when it eventually stops. If I check the error log in Windows it reads "Faulting application httpd.exe version 2.1.12.0, time stamp 0x4a66dd7b, faulting module php5ts.dll, version 5.3.0.0........
This is on a brand new server only used for XAMPP and Wordpress. I read where someone else was having this problem and they said it was because of the 2.1.12.0. I guess a newer version was released. I'm more of a network guy than a programmer so I'm sure my lack of knowledge is somewhat limiting my fix of this. Any suggestions? |

What does that mean ?
I guess it means no one knows, or is too busy to answer. Your post has been up for a week with no attempt at a responce. I'm running into the same problem with this newest install of XAAMP. Can't get Apache to start, and the ports are free, and nothing running on port 80. I have an older install .exe of XAAMP somewhere, which ran with no problems. I have searched and tried all the different suggestions on this forum, and Apache still will not run on XP Pro with this newest release. This is a fresh install of XP Pro, with the latest release of XAAMP. Then again, I may just dump XAAMP altogether, and run a virtual install of Linux, or a dual boot with Linux, and get the real deal. A lot of the answers to some of the newbies on this forum seem to be a little short. |

Faulting application apache.exe, version 2.2.11.0, faulting module php5ts.dll, version 5.2.8.8,
For errors like these in my case the DLL that casue the error within the event viewer is a DLL that is found in PHP and in another path location such as system32 (due to pass actions . The older version of the DLL was replace with the new one and apache restarted.
THis just might sort it for most. |

I've just installed XAMPP on an XP machine.
I get an error message in red across the top of the XAMPP home page: "Warning: Variable passed to each() is not an array or object in D:\XAMPP\htdocs\xampp\head.php on line 27"
PHPInfo() works from the XAMPP home page menu.
BUT if I choose phpMyAdmin from the home page menu (to http://localhost/phpmyadmin/) apache crashes with the following error reported in the windows event log: Faulting application apache.exe, version 2.2.11.0, faulting module php5ts.dll, version 5.2.8.8, fault address 0x0000abae.
The only changes I've made from the installation are - to my.ini in mysql and - having read the forum I modified D:\XAMPP\apache\conf\extra\httpd-xampp.conf, changing localhost to 127.0.0.1 in 2 places, to allow me to load the security page at http://localhost/security/index.php.
Help! Cheers. |

One of the suggested fixes was to add this line to the bottom of the httpd.conf file: Win32DisableAcceptEx Save the file and restart Apache and try again to see if your issue returns.
Not seen many with the kernel fault, usually it is a dll at fault.
If you want some heavy reading about this I did a Google search just looking for the kernel issue.
A forum search here reveals the dll issues but only one result with the kernel issue and no fix offered.
Try the above and reboot your PC and see if it continues to intermittently crash whilst waiting to see if any other members have had similar problems and know of a more positive fix.
Sorry I can't be much more help to you. |

Windows Server 2008 Standard (32-bit), and the latest version of XAMPP (1.7.0, I think).
The event viewer does contain logs of apache.exe crashing, but I have absolutely no idea what it describes:
Code: Log Name: Application Source: Application Error Date: 1/25/2009 5:32:11 PM Event ID: 1000 Task Category: (100) Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: WIN-ZPJ839X91DM Description: Faulting application apache.exe, version 2.2.11.0, time stamp 0x493f5d44, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791a76d, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000bf285, process id 0x67c, application start time 0x01c97ec75d29ca50. When looking under system, all it tells me is that it has crashed 8 times. |

I have the same problem:
-> Windows Server 2008 - 32bit
-> XAMPP 1.6.8
At random times ... about 30 minutes after starting the mysql and apache services, I get one of the following error logs:
Faulting application apache.exe, version 2.2.9.0, time stamp 0x4853f994, faulting module php5ts.dll, version 5.2.6.6, time stamp 0x481b8f4b, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000dfdca, process id 0x1714, application start time 0x01c94dbc88398203.
or:
Faulting application apache.exe, version 2.2.9.0, time stamp 0x4853f994, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791a7a6, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000659c3, process id 0x1428, application start time 0x01c94d80e8d328cf.
and in the error.log of the appache folder, appears in the same time:
[notice] Parent: child process exited with status 255 -- Restarting.
[notice] Apache/2.2.9 (Win32) DAV/2 mod_ssl/2.2.9 OpenSSL/0.9.8i mod_autoindex_color PHP/5.2.6 configured -- resuming normal operations
[notice] Server built: Jun 14 2008 19:02:12
[notice] Parent: Created child process 2592
[notice] Child 2592: Child process is running
[notice] Child 2592: Acquired the start mutex.
[notice] Child 2592: Starting 250 worker threads.
[notice] Child 2592: Starting thread to listen on port 443.
[notice] Child 2592: Starting thread to listen on port 80.
After this problem, if I try to access the apache Admin page or .. whatever other page .. it stays loading the page in the browsers remaining blank ; nothing works until I restart the apache service.
Where is the problem ? |

Hi does anyone know why this may be happening please.
This is the error I get in event viewer
Faulting application apache.exe, version 2.2.8.0, time stamp 0x47904924, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791a7a6, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00065844, process id 0xb00, application start time 0x01c9182763b5b1f2.
apache just crashes sometimes when anyone say clicks a link on the forum, not all the time just some times. and also if I shut down the server I get this error also.
Thanks in advance, w4vy
EDIT: Have just noticed this error inbetween the error above and another error which is not really an error but a warning, but anyway here is the other error :-
Faulting application apache.exe, version 2.2.8.0, time stamp 0x47904924, faulting module MSVCR90.dll, version 9.0.21022.8, time stamp 0x47313dce, exception code 0xc0000417, fault offset 0x00068389, process id 0x13f8, application start time 0x01c918329bf510ac.
Thanks again. |
