Apache Friends XAMPP 2.0 Survey

Welcome to our first survey for XAMPP 2.0.

In May 2007 XAMPP will be five years old and we think this is a good time to think about changes and improvements to XAMPP. That's what this survey is for: to find out what your needs are and what we can do to improve XAMPP in the next major release.

The survey will run for exactly one month (from March 22nd to April 22nd 2007), after which we will publish the results right here.

Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey. We appreciate your feedback and we will use it to make XAMPP even more useful and enjoyable. ;)

If there are any questions you don't want to answer, you don't have to. You choose.

* Privacy

This whole survey is absolutely anonymous. We don't collect any personally identifiable information at all.
The survey is complete. Many thanks to everybody who took part in our survey!!

Within the next two weeks, we expect to finish tabulating the results and publish a summary of our findings. If you wish to be notified about the results, please sign up for our newsletter.

The Questionnaire

The orders of questions and answers are determined randomly and are not subject to any preferences.

This survey is closed because validity period has expired!

This survey consists only of these 15 questions you see on this page. There are no more pages.

Any other:

What do you really need in XAMPP?

We're always trying to reduce the workload in creating XAMPP for us and to minimize the download size for you, the user. There may be parts of XAMPP you don't need or you don't want.

Windows users: Which Windows versions are you using?

From the download statistics we know that most of our users use XAMPP for Windows. We are currently testing XAMPP on each of these versions of Windows (besides Vista at the moment). Getting XAMPP to run under Windows 98 is a hard job. Can we maybe forget about 98 or NT?

7zip
Self-extracting archive
Or do you prefer another format:

Do you need XAMPP support for 64-bit systems?

Over the past few months, the voices clamouring for a 64-bit release of XAMPP have been getting louder. Building this version is very hard work and so we would like you to tell us which operating systems you need 64-bit support for.

Are there any applications you want us to ship with XAMPP?

Are you interested in a XAMPP containing alpha or beta releases of...

XAMPP currently only consists of final, general availability versions of Apache, MySQL, PHP etc. However, there may be a need for special versions of XAMPP which contain brand new stuff; alpha versions such as PHP 6 or MySQL 5.1.

Are you interested in online services provided by Apache Friends?

We can currently just about cover hardly our hosting expenses through donations and ads on our website. To raise more money (for example to buy new hardware for Vista, or to visit conferences and promote XAMPP) we're thinking about setting up online services which may be subject to a small fee.
