I decided to make a very simple form of guest book. With only one text area and no more
crap like fields for your email address, name or home page url. Just simple and plain as a real world guest book.
And also like a real guest book: HTML input is not allowed.
And a message to all guest book spammers: URLs in this guest book were automatically removed.
This is only a guest book. If you've questions or need support: Please visit our forum. We don't answer any questions here.
And please, for your own happiness: Don't leave your e-mail addresses in a public guest book. Spammers will love you.
You did an amazing thing. This is awesome. This package will be amazing for taking php web applications and make them avaliable off-line. I am doing a trial at a company i'm working with doing just that. You can count on me for beta-testing here forward!!!

I want to express my sincere gratitude to all those people who have contributed towards creating this wonderful product, on behalf of all my project group members and myself.
We are in our final year pursuing a bachelor degree in computer applications and need to do one project for 100 marks. We needed to do something other than VB/Access combo that all the other groups were brainwashed to use.
We did find it hard to resist the temptation of working with such ease, but that's when my great searching skills (ahem ahem ;) led me to hotscripts.com from where i got the package. the one we use is the old one with php 4.3.4, mysql 4.0.16, etc.
apachefriends remains one of the biggest reasons not only to keep us into programming using open-source tools but also makes it so "tempting". addition of useful utilities like phpMyAdmin and real examples also has helped get a good start on learning the workings of the platform.
Thank you again!

POSTGRESQL! POSTGRESQL! POSTGRESQL! That is one important software you left out in your package. You may omit the PostgreSQL installation package, but please do not omit configuring php to use PostgreSQL.
You guys are great.

Any business would be smart to use Apachefriends for their server application. I don't remember how long I have been using it but it is in the years and I couldn't ask for a better product.
I hope that the people [EMAILHIDDEN] apache friends realize the rewards that they so richly deserve.

Thank you guys. You make my work easier. I use XAMPP for my teaching job in Php and MySQL in Windows and Linux. I also use XAMPP in deploying intranet applications to my customers. Just recently, I am entertaining using PostgreSQL for my database. Unfortunately, php in XAMPP for Linux is not configured to use PostgreSQL. No problem with the Windows version. Can you do something about this -- php configured to also use postgreSQL in Linux aside from MySQL?

I just wanted to thank everyone involved with creating this package. I must've spent at least a week trying to install Apache, PHP and mySQL separately with no joy and so much hassle then i stumbled upon XAMPP.
Installation was dead easy and it actually worked first time with absolutely no issues (a first for me and downloaded software).
You guys are clearly geniuses and I very much appreciate your hard work.
Thanks again,
Steve

You guys made it possible for me to get the first (of hopefully several) Linux servers integrated into a wholly MS corporate environment. I was setting up a proof of concept system to show my boss, and used FC2 (it was free - what can I say $0 budget and all..) Your scripts and configuration tools blew me away and allowed me to use the latest and greatest versions of all the apps I needed.
Thank you thank you thank you!

I've been running apache/mysql/php/mod_perl for years. I just wiped my box and installed FC3 and was starting to piece together a new build environment for all the new versions and ran across this website from freshmeat.net. I had serious doubts that it would work as advertised, but I tried it anyway. I was blown away with how up-to-date the tools are, how easy it was to install and get running, and how powerful the configuration (which may have some more room to grow) tools were. I give you great applause for a job well done and want to express my gratitude. Thanks so much.

Hi Kay and Oswald,
I am just moving over to Linux and as I have been using your excellent XAMPP on Windows for quite a while I just couldn't wait to try the Linux package.
What a breeze, installed on Fedora Core 3 as easy as Windows, two days with Linux and I am already running my WEB Server, brilliant!!
Please accept my appreciation for your dedication, where would we be without you?

HKTL_PRCVIEW.B hacked and "Denied Access" from uploading. It was quarantine and the infected file at \xampp\apache\bin\ pv.exe was deleted last week, as recommended by Trend Micro.
However, the upload still could not be done after quarantine and deletion. So we decided to reinstall the pv.exe back and Trend Micro detected HKTL_PRCVIEW.B again. It was quarantine, restored. Now it comes back again at C:\system volume information, so quarantine again as A0000725.exe.
Denied access to upload still persists. Is the uploading affected by HKTL_PRCVIEW.B? Any advice for the upload solution?
Thank You,
KL Tan

I was completely new to Apache and PHP and mySQL but when i came accross your package, i had no problems with getting it up and running in minutes. Your readme file was all i needed to setup the whole server.
I am truly greatful to ApacheFriends for this wonderful gift to all newbies like me. I salute u guys for your dedication to this project.

Install was a breeze. All packages and add-ons including Tomcat and Cacoon work on my olde WIN98 system with Java SDK 1.4.2 installed. I had to make a minor modification in config.sys to make sure that the environment size is set to 4K = SHELL=C:\COMMAND.COM /p /e:4096.
Even created a little batch file to start and stop all services with one click.
Thanks for this great, most complete package.

Your installer was wonderful. I tried several other methods to get a server and PHP running on my machine to test PHP and had nothing but problems. I spent several hours trying to configure servers and it just wasn't working. A friend informed me of apachefriends and I was up and running in mere minutes. Thanks for providing such a wonderful application! I'll link you up when I've completed my latest PHP project.
Cheers!

Thank you for making it so easy to set up a WAMP in Windows XP with xampp. I had set up my home computer by hand last year and it took a long time to get it all working. I downloaded xampp on my work computer today and was set up in less than 3 minutes. Great work. Thank you for saving me so much time.

Thanks, Oswald, for the comment about the false positive on PV.EXE. The problem, however, is that my antivirus + antispyware AUTOMATICALLY removes this file, since it is classified as a hacking tool... Is PV.exe a critical file in XAMPP? What does it do? How can we solve this problem? What functions will be unavailable if (as it happens to me) the file is removed by the antispyware software as soon as it finds it?
By the way, my antivirus software is not Trendmicro, but Panda...
So we have TWO differents tools claiming to have found the same hacking tool...
Again: It's a false positive. PV.EXE contains no virus. But thanks for the warning, anyway. [Oswald]
